The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has debunked news that ambassadors were recalled by President Muhammadu Buhari.
It was earlier reported that President Muhammadu Buhari recalled Nigerian ambassadors in foreign countries.
The recall of the ambassadors is said to be part of efforts to reposition the country’s foreign policies, and it was confirmed by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina.
But according to Premium Times, on Monday, a spokesperson for the ministry Ogbole Ode said that the recall never happened as the ministry has no knowledge of such an incident. The spokesperson said the permanent secretary of the ministry also confirmed the news as a mere rumor.
Ode blamed social media and online news forums for spreading the information.
