Former CBN Director kidnapped

A former Director of Foreign Operations at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Joseph Ogedegbe is reported to has been abducted by unidentified gunmen at St. Michael’s Anglican Church in Emevor, Isoko North Local Government Area (LGA), Delta State.

According to Sahara Reporters, the 91-year-old Ogedegbe, who retired from the CBN in 1978, was ambushed while he was exiting his vehicle at the church premises at about 8:30 am.

A security officer is reported to have disclosed that the kidnappers were members of the community and that the police will find them soon.

Furthermore, a member of Ogedegbe family was quoted to have said that:

“We are praying seriously that they don’t kill our father. We are also calling on the Chief Security Officer and Chairman of Isoko North LGA of Delta State, Mr. Emmanuel Egbabor, and Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to see that something urgent is done to rescue our father.”
