Fox News pundit blames Muslims for Boston bombings: “They’re evil. Let’s kill them all”

The president has asked all Americans to withhold judgement about the recent bombings at the Boston Marathon.  But since when did Fox News care anything about what the president has to say?

Erik Rush, a pundit for Fox, saw the incident and immediately started saying things that made even the strongest conservatives a bit squeamish.

Although there was no information about the bombings, Rush went to Twitter to say that he believes that the culprit was from Saudi Arabia.

“@erikrush Everybody do the National Security Ankle Grab! Let’s bring more Saudis in without screening them! C’mon! #bostonmarathon.”

Rush was then confronted on Twitter by someone who asked him if he was implying that Muslims were responsible for the attack.  His response? “Yes, they’re evil. Let’s kill them all.”

Rush attempted to say that he was being sarcastic, but in a nation and on a network where Muslims are often positioned as an enemy of America, these words have a degree of seriousness to them.   Rush got a strong reaction on social media, with people commenting about his remarks and their extreme insensitivity.

“Hope people don’t go on the ‘Muslims did it’ bandwagon. Don’t be an idiot and know the facts first,” one observer said on Twitter.

“Apparently someone at Fox News tweeted ‘Kill All Muslims’ after the explosions. As a Boston resident, and as a human being, I’m disgusted,” said another person.

Although Rush claimed that his words were mere sarcasm, he did contribute to the “Muslims must have done it” mentality with additional tweets.

“It’s nice to see all the Islamist apologists standing up for those who would waste them in a heartbeat,” he said.

Mr. Rush’s greatest claim to fame for Fox is that he exposed the comments of Pastor Jeremiah Wright, nearly derailing the Obama campaign. So, it is fitting that a man who feels that Pastor Wright is an enemy of America because he questioned US policy would also be the man who jokes about wanting to kill all Muslims.

Rush even wrote an article entitled: “Yes, Islam is an enemy,” where he argued that Islam is not compatible with American values.

“Islam has never played well with others, and this is because it is a worldview with a creed, dogma and religious aspects, rather than a religion per se. All of these militate against its tolerance of divergent societies and cultures,” he wrote.
