SCAM: 18-year-old student dupes man in Katsina over Hajj seats

An 18-year-old student is currently in police custody at the Criminal Investigation Department of Katsina State, for allegedly swindling his father’s friend, Dankafur (surname withheld)  to the tune of N900,000.

The teenager who is also a student with one of the tertiary institutions in Kastina reportedly collected the money on the pretext of securing Hajj seats for Alhaji Dankafur.

According to sources, the suspect who is from Kafur local government area of the state, allegedly presented fake travel documents to the victim with the assurance that he would join the fourth flight.

However, on reaching the Katsina State Hajj camp on Wednesday, when the fourth flight was scheduled to take off, the man realised that his name was not on the flight schedule just as he was told his papers were fake.
An obviously enraged, Dankafur sought to know from the accused, but he reportedly started making some suspicious moves, Dankafur alerted the police who promptly arrested him.
Efforts to seek confirmation from the spokesman of Katsina State police command, DSP Aminu Abubakar Sadik were fruitless as he declined to answer calls put through to his mobile phone.
