A homeless man who wanted to have a warm night’s sleep was killed after a tragic accident, according to press reports.

The Texas man died when the trash compactor of a sanitation truck crushed him on Wednesday morning.

The sudden and tragic death is really sad now that we have to live “without his presence and his smile,” several friends told news reporters.

Chad Adams, 41, fell asleep in a dumpster in Fort Worth, Texas, where he was looking to stay warm on Tuesday night, a local TV station reported.
The cleaning truck dropped Adams along with other contents of the bin into the compactor the next morning.

Paramedics who were called to the scene performed CPR and took him to the emergency room, according to emergency workers. Adams died during surgery at John Peter Smith Hospital.

Several initial reports said Adams was homeless, but one friend said he lived somewhere in Burleson, Texas. Adams was also described as a deeply compassionate and kind man.

“He would give away the shirt off his back to help anyone who needs it,” the friend said.
“Adams had a big heart and he will be missed,” he wrote to his niece in the comments section of the newspaper.
