From the Magazine: Wok that meal – A tasty review of the Woks and Koi Restaurant, Abuja

by Mnena Achineku

Name: Woks and Koi

Location: Central Business Area, Abuja

Category: Restaurant

We were looking for authentic Chinese food in Abuja, so we gave Woks and Koi Chinese Cuisine a try.

Woks and Koi has a relaxed atmosphere, their decor of red and black – a traditional Chinese restaurant interior decor theme – is kept subdued. There was no intrusive background music, the lighting was just right, our dining area was nicely laid out, and our seats were comfortable.

We were quickly attended to. Selecting from a mouth-watering menu of classic dishes, we had starters of spring rolls, not too crispy and chockfull of filling, with dipping sauce. Our main course was green pepper and black bean sauce, with shrimp fried rice and noodles as side dishes. The beef was lush and soft (no embarrassing tugging on the beef); the rice and noodles so delicious they could be eaten as a dish on their own. The food portions were so generous, we had to do takeaway, which was done with a smile and at no extra cost.

Pricewise, on a scale of Mr Biggs to Obudu Grill at Sheraton, Woks and Koi is mid range and affordable. It took a while for the food to come, but that can easily be overlooked.

Woks and Koi also have a bar for drinks, take advance bookings and welcome walk-ins. They can be found on the 2nd floor of the Silverbird Centre in Central Business Area of Abuja.

With sumptuous food and great service with a smile, I would definitely visit again.
