On December 1, people around the world gathered in groups to mark the annual World AIDS Day.
The event is celebrated yearly to raise awareness about the ongoing HIV/AIDS virus and though many research and reports have indicated that a cure is underway, many continue to get infected and die daily. According to reports, the event allows people living with HIV, and family and friends of those who have died from AIDS to remember their loved ones, and combat HIV-related stigma.
