Fulani herdsmen kill two policemen in Kaduna

Suspected Fulani herdsmen on Thursday killed two policemen along the Kagoro-Gidan Waya Road in Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Punch reports.

It was gathered that two others were injured while another two escaped unhurt.

It was also learnt that the herdsmen made away with two AK 47 rifles.

The Public Relations Officer of the Kaduna Police command, Aliyu Usman confirmed  the incident.

“Yes, gunmen killed two policemen. They were ambushed by the gunmen. Investigation into the matter has commenced,” Usman said.

A source confirmed that the injured policemen are receiving treatment at the General Hospital, Kafanchan.

The source said, “The incident occurred this morning around 9:30am. Two policemen were killed by gunmen along Kagoro-Gidan Waya Road. We strongly believe they are Fulani herdsmen that have been killing people in our communities,” he said.

“In all, six policemen were at the checkpoint, two of them were killed and their AK47 rifles ‎were taken away by the herdsmen.

“Others, about two of them, sustained serious injuries from gun shots, while the remaining two managed to escape unhurt.

“We took those that were wounded to the General Hospital Kafanchan. I understand that one of the dead policemen resumed duty ‎here today. This is very sad and unfortunate.”
