Former Big Brother Housemate, Geraldine Iheme recently launched her first novel ‘Disfigured Emotions’ at the Oriental Victoria Island on 29th December, 2010. The launch kicked off with a red carpet event that hosted Geraldine’s family, friends and invited guests, including fellow Big Brother housemates from South Africa and Mozambique, who were present to show their support.
The event was compered by comedian Basket Mouth, with more comedy from Fx and musical performances by Bez, Modele and Chike.
‘Disfigured Emotions’ is a work of fiction that Geraldine has been writing for three years. “It is set in a world that exists only in my head,”she says. “I explored my imagination and push[ed] my creative skills to another level”.
Mrs. Iheme, Geraldine’s mother, who was the first to launch the book, praised her daughter, saying: ‘ she reminds me of her late father’. There were short readings from Doyin Fisayo, Odunayo Balogun and Mitchell Udeze.
Speaking at the launch, Geraldine Iheme said that she decided to write it, because “a lot of issues are not being talked about and it is hurting in every sense. [It] is a captivating and intriguing story of unspoken truth”.
