#GoldTicketGate: “Who are they to question me?” Tinubu lashes back at the PDP

by Isi Esene

The former governor of Lagos State, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu maintained that he was invited by the US Democratic Party for the recently concluded Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Charlotte, North Carolina.

He said this in Lagos on his arrival from a foreign trip.

According to the leader of the opposition Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), he said, “I was invited properly … and as an honoured guest position”

He reportedly queried why the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) will ask him to prove that he was invited, “Who are they that I have need to prove anything to them.., I was there and what is their business?”

Controversy had trailed his attendance of the convention, there were allegations that he bought the invitation to attend the convention.

The PDP had in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh said:

“The usual desperation of Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his Party to court attention at all cost has taken an international dimension. This time, Senator Tinubu who prides himself as the National Leader of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) has been basking in a delusory frenzy of being ‘specially invited’ to the just concluded Democratic National Convention which held in Charlotte, North Carolina in the United States of America.”

The statement further  said:

“While Tinubu and his co-travelers are still humouring themselves on being recognized in the international circle as leaders of opposition for attending the convention, it has since been revealed that the man actually laboured vigorously to purchase his invitation.”

Much ado about an invite.
