A few good albums to anticipate before 2016 ends

A few Nigerian artistes are up to new stuff recently and some of those projects are set to drop before the year runs out so maybe, we should be excited for what’s to come.

Honestly, some of us have been bored out with artistes and their newfound laidback approach to their music.

Apart from a few concerts here and there and the Jidenna tour that spiced things up a bit, not much has happened on the Nigerian music scene in the last month.

So it won’t look like we’re disrespectful, we need to acknowledge the artistes that dropped their albums in the past month- Reekado Banks’ album Spotlight, Patoranking’s GOE and CDQ’s Quality but no one, literally no one is talking about them.

Absolutely no buzz. Bigs up to Reminisce for the El Hadj album, it has appeared on the Billboard World Chart in 13th place.

El Hadj is definitely on the queue of albums to wow us through the rest of 2016, but there’s more.

Davido has been silent for some time now but has been playing mogul,  pushing his new record label, DMW records and artistes, Mayorkun and Dremo. Now, the Sony Music artiste is set to drop magic.

A double EP titled Son Of Mercy is due this September, we do not know much about it but we expect a collaboration with American singer, Tinashe and maybe Grammy-nominated producer, DJ Snake. September 9th, which is today, is the speculated release date for the EP.

Another album to anticipate is Ice Prince’s Jos To The World #J2TW. We expect a fairly good album as Ice Prince has never really cut through for most people.

The visuals to Excellency, a track off the album dropped few weeks back and we like how it reeks of pure class. An effortless party track that features South African DJ Buckz, Excellency projects the album as a promising one.

Roc Nation’s newest act, Tiwa Savage has taken New York and she has given us a lot to look forward to, more than the Instagram photos.

If the photos are anything to go by, we expect collaborations with British-Ghanaian artiste, Fuse ODG and Nigerian-born American singer, Jidenna.

We’re not putting any pressure on Tiwa as the R.E.D album is still blazing hot but we hope for a new joint before year end (an international collaboration, of course).

Omo Alhaji, Ycee has not hinted about an album yet but we think he’s ripe for it and expect to see him drop one for his fans this 2016. Other artistes who have albums or EPs in the works for possible 2016 release are Simi, SeanTizzle and Wizkid.
