Good samaritan 101: Student returns wallet with $1,000 in it (PICTURED)

These are the kinds of stories you just don’t get to hear everyday, but you love them because it is a reminder that there are still people in the world who want to do good.  Angela Mohan had just received $1,000 from her sister in Ireland. The money had been wired for a family issue that would now remain unresolved because of her mishap.

The woman left her wallet at the King of Prussia Mall in Philadelphia, and expected to never see it again.  Also, police told her that if she did get her wallet back, the money would probably be gone anyway.

“I said, OK, I’m down a thousand,” said Mohan. “But my credit cards, my license. My life is in that wallet.”

Little did Mohan know, she would meet an angel the next day.  A 20-year old college student, Angelise Alba, was with her mother celebrating her 20th birthday at the Cheesecake Factory  She saw the wallet on the ground on her way out the door, and picked it up.  She searched the wallet carefully, looking for the person’s contact information.

“I thought, ‘Wow, that’s a lot of money. Someone must be freaking out by now,’ ” Alba said.

Alba found Mohan’s drivers license, googled her and found her Facebook page.  She then sent her a message and left a voicemail on her phone. In the meantime, Mohan was getting an MRI and was so distraught by her loss that she couldn’t focus on anything.

“All kinds of things were going through my mind,” Mohan said. “I was lying [in the MRI tube], I was crying.”

When she got home later, Mohan heard the most beautiful voice she’d ever heard in her life.  That’s when she met up with the young woman’s mother, who gave her back her wallet, with all the money still inside.

“Thank God for that kid,” Mohan said. “Everything was in the wallet,” Mohan said. “I gave her a big hug.”

As a reward, Mohan gave a $100 bill to the young woman for her kindness, honesty and generosity.  She is also going to get quite a few rewards in life for doing such a good deed toward a stranger.  In this day and age, such a wonderful spirit is a rare and beautiful gift from God.
