Jonathan supports Governor Dickson… but his kinsmen have other plans

The traditional rulers and chiefs from the local government area of former President, Goodluck Jonathan, have declared their support for Timipre Sylva, in the Bayelsa governorship race.

Jonathan, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, supports his party’s candidate, incumbent Governor, Seriake Dickson, but his kinsmen, in Ogbia LGA, have backed Sylva, candidate of the All Progressives Congress.

When his campaign train berthed at Ogbia LGA on Sunday, Sylva was received by the monarchs of the four clans – Anyama, Abureni, Emeyal and Oloibiri – and chiefs that make up Ogbia.

The monarchs- King George Lawson, King Madock Ogbogi, King Omie Theophilus, King Ebi Daniel and other chiefs- in spite of the downpour, gave Sylva a reception at Ogbia Brotherhood House.

King George Lawson spoke on behalf of the other monarchs, by assuring Sylva that he the chosen one.

“We, the entire people of Ogbia are solidly behind you. We want to assure you that the four clans in Ogbia are with you.

“The Ogbia people are united in ensuring that we give you 100 per cent support. We want to assure you that your victory is foreclosed.

“Ogbia people have resolved that you were doing enough for the people before you were denied your second chance to be governor. We will give you full support to actualise your mandate by mobilising our people to vote en masss for you on December 5, 2015.”
