I got Hepatitis C while wrestling in the WWE – Ex-wrestler claims

by Akan Ido

A former professional wrestler is suing the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) claiming he contracted Hepatitis C during a bloody wrestling match.

The wrestler, Billy Jack Haynes accused the WWE of failing to educate wrestlers of the long term negative effects the sport has on their health choosing instead to hide important medical information from them.

According to him, the WWE even goes out of its way to put wrestlers in danger by encouraging steroid and cocaine use.

Haynes, who wrestled for Vince McMahon’s company from 1986-88, filed a suit in the federal court in Oregon blaming the WWE for his Hepatitis C diagnosis claiming that he contracted the illness during blood-soaked matches with infected wrestlers.

The suit filed on behalf of himself and other wrestlers, is worth about $5 million.
