EFCC invites judge who called for Aregbesola’s impeachment… but there’s a problem

Justice Folahanmi Oloyede, who accused Governor Rauf Aregbesola of committing fraud, has been invited to the Abuja headquarters of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Punch reports.

Oloyede had petitioned the state House of Assembly, asking that impeachment proceedings be commenced against Aregbesola.

The judge had written a petition on June 19 to the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Najeem Salam, accusing Aregbesola of financial recklessness.

A copy of the petition was also sent to the EFCC and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, among others anti-graft agencies.

Punch Newspapers reports that a source close to the judge told journalists on Sunday, in Osogbo, the Osun State, that the judge was contacted by an official of the EFCC.

The source said Oloyede was asked to come to the Abuja office of the commission to assist with the investigation into the allegations she made against Governor Aregbesola.

Speaking further, the source reportedly said that although the judge was willing and ready to assist the EFCC in the investigations, she however, could not afford to travel to Abuja at the moment.

Consequently, Oloyede was said to have urged the anti-graft agency to come to Osogbo to investigate the petition.
