‘He was roasted alive’: Woman sets her ex-lover ablaze in Edo

A 35-year-old woman identified as Esohe Ogbeiwi is currently in police detention after she allegedly set her former lover ablaze, killing him in Edo state.

The victim, Peter Osayi was said to have burnt to death after the suspect, Ogbeiwi had doused him with petrol and set him ablaze.

Before Osayi’s death, the former couple had two children together.

The Nation reports:

Family members told journalists that the deceased had a dispute with the suspect and she later invited him for settlement.

It was at the point of settlement that she allegedly poured petrol on her ex-lover and lit a match.

Peter was rushed to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) and died a day later.

Esohe was subsequently arrested and the case has been transferred to the homicide department.

A brother to the victim, who gave his name as Moses said, “We want government to give us justice. He was roasted alive. My brother told me before his death not to allow the girl escape.”

Police spokesman, Uwoh Noble, confirmed the incident and said investigations were still on.
