From the Chibok girls to the MTV Africa Music Awards, we’ve been your eyes and ears all week; listening closely to every word uttered or posted by any and everybody. All in all, it has not been the most dramatic week, not in Nigeria, at least. Sure, Donald Trump spoke gain; Nigerian ministers and Judges have been trading wild accusations and the EFCC has uncovered even more shocking amounts of shady sums but then we have seen more drama in the parts in the past.
Still, (in no particular order) here are the top 10 quotes from the past week you might want to hold on to for future reference:
1. “I am not clear about the issue of the Chibok girls. They were to sit for exams as physics students, but the first one they brought could not speak English and the second one was restricted by the bring back our girls group …“But if they want us to believe that is the story then we will keep our fingers crossed.” – Governor Ayo Fayose expressing his doubts on Channels TV’s Hard Talk about the story of the abduction of over 200 girls from a Chibok secondary school in April, 2014.

3. “Heading to Brussels to attend a forum where I will be giving the opening remark on “Women’s Role in Global Security”- Aisha Muhammadu Buhari in a tweet that broke the Nigerian internet on Tuesday. Many have considered it an indirect response to her husbands comments about her roles being limited to ensuring his well-being. The tweet was posted along with a photo of her in a fierce multi-coloured poncho.

It is now time for them to experience the best that the world can do for them.” – President Muhammadu Buhari’s very emotional promise to the 21 freed Chibok girls during their presidential reception in Abuja on Wednesday.
10. “He had an opportunity to make real reforms early on, to boldly reshape Nigeria’s path. He wasted it.” – Chimamanda Adichie on Tuesday in a New York Times piece analysing President Buhari’s time in Aso Rock till date.
