Gbadebo Oladejo, a 46-year-old painter has been remanded in prison custody for allegedly killing his wife, Olajumoke.

The suspect and his apprentice, Simeon Abiona, 34, were dragged before an Ebutte Meta Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for the murder of the deceased who was found dead in the painter’s house with her eyes plucked out and bruises all over her body.

Both suspects were charged with alleged conspiracy and murder but the Magistrate, Miss Y.J Badejo-Okusanya could not take their pleas as she stated that she needed the advice of the state’s director of public prosecutions.

The prosecutor, Cyriacus Osuji, said the suspects committed the offence on February 14 around 10am. According to him, the apprentice, who had no fixed address was present at the painter’s residence when the incident happened.

“They all rushed to the room and took her body to mortuary and wanted to bury her that day but the deceased’s parents objected to the burial,” Osuji reportedly said.

The prosecutor said that the offences contravened sections 221 and 231 of the Criminal Code of Lagos State, 2011.

The court has, however, adjourned the case till April 27 for mention.
