A man tragically jumped to his death from the Alexandria Hotel in downtown Los Angeles on Monday afternoon.
Detective Gus Villanueva with the the Los Angeles Police Department said the unidentified man leapt at 3.55 p.m. and that when fire department first responders arrived at 3.58 p.m. he was already dead.
According to LA’s City News Service the man jumped from the building’s fourth floor and his death was witnessed by dozens of people on the corner of 5th and Spring in the city.
The Alexandria, which was once a luxury hotel, is now a large low-rent apartment building.
It has been converted to a series of ‘micro lofts’ designed as affordable housing for those on low incomes and young people looking to start off in Los Angeles.
In the aftermath, police covered the man’s body and began investigating the scene and the window ledge from where he jumped.
Police said that the man will not be identified until his next of kin have been notified.
