House of Reps resolve to investigate ATM charges

The House of Representatives on Thursday decided to investigate charges by commercial banks for Automated Teller Machine.

The Committee on Banking and Currency has been saddled with the responsibility of investigating the N65 charge as well as other charges.

The motion was moved by Tijani Yusuf, under Matters of Urgent Public Importance.

Yusuf said the Central Bank of Nigeria has failed to protect bank customers who are being extorted of N65.

He said banks in the UK were recently asked to return charges collected from customers.

The motion was referred to the Committee on Banking and Currency after members unanimously adopted it through a voice vote.
