He’s one of the world’s most high profile sportsmen who spends most of his time running around a football pitch.

But it seems that Cristiano Ronaldo can even work up a sweat while on the red carpet, sporting a shiny face as he posed at the Jacob & Co gala in Monaco on Thursday.

Looking like he was battling against the heat in his buttoned up tuxedo, the Real Madrid star grinned for the cameras despite his apparent discomfort.

But ever the professional, Ronaldo put on a brave face and didn’t show that he was hot, despite the beads of sweat that were forming on his brow.

With the usual glint in his eye and flashing his trademark toothy grin, the 28-year-old adopted his best poses, doing his bit for the brand.

The star seemed to be flying solo for the luxury watch event, leaving his model girlfriend Irina Shayk at home.

But the Portuguese footballer certainly seemed to be in high spirits as he waved at the waiting crowds, putting his thumbs up to show off his designer watch.

And despite his shiny face, Ronaldo certainly seemed to have made quite an effort with his evening attire for the event, looking as dapper as ever in the tailored suit.

He wore a smart black bow tie with the jet black suit while his crisp white shirt bore a Dsquared logo on the neck, visible when he turned around.

Earlier this week the sportsman sparked rumours that he could be returning to Manchester United, after saying: ‘I really miss English football.

But he went on to rule out any plans for an imminent return, saying: ‘But my life is in Spain, i’m enjoying to play there too – part of my life is there.

‘In the future you never know. But I’m really, really happy in Spanish (Primera) League at the moment.’
