Manchester United has raked in about £8million in cash from appearance money, prize funds and revenue from TV rights, from their two-week pre-season tour of the US.

The Red Devils took part in lucrative friendly matches in Detroit, Miami, Los Angeles, Denver and Washington, as new manager Louis van Gaal prepared his team for the new season.

United banked most of the cash from participating in the International Champions Cup, along with teams like Real Madrid, Liverpool AC Milan and Manchester City.

Van Gaal’s bank received £600,000 for emerging as winners of the tournament, after they beat Liverpool 3-1 in the final played at the Sun Life Stadium in Miami.

The club have already signed a new record-breaking £750m 10-year kit deal with adidas.
