How I got the job as Obanikoro’s SA on Media – @MrFixNigeria, Ohimai Amaize opens up

Ohimai Amaize

by Isi Esene

Ohimai Amaize, the former Special Assistant to Malam Bolaji Abdullahi who was recently relieved of his position as Minister of Sports and Youth Development by President Goodlcuk Jonathan has made public his appointment as Special Assistant on Media and Strategy to Musiliu Obanikoro, the Minister of State for Defence.

Amaize confirmed this on Friday in a tweet saying; “It’s official. Ohimai Godwin Amaize, SA (Media & Strategy) to the Honourable Minister of State for Defence, Nigeria.”

Amaize who became the youngest presidential campaign manager in the world  in 2011 when he served as an aide to former Labour Party flagbearer, Dele Momodu at the age of 26. He later served with Bolaji Abdullahi who was generally regarded to have performed creditably well in his position as Sports Minister.

While speaking with YNaija, Amaize stated that his new job is a tough one considering the fact that he would not only be managing Obanikoro’s media apparatus but he is also in charge of strategy.

According to him: “It’s the toughest job I’ve had to take in public office. You know my job is not only media but also strategy.”

Asked how he got the job Amaize said, “Somebody who appreciates my work recommended me to him just like I was recommended to Malam Abdullahi.”

Abdullahi was sacked by President Jonathan after an alleged political disagreement stemming from the former’s perceived close relationship with ex-Kwara State governor, Bukola Saraki who is presently a staunch member of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).

We wish Amaize all the best in his new office.
