Court-2

A woman in Lagos has pleaded with a Customary Court in the Ejigbo area to dissolve her 15 year marriage.

Glory Ojuala has told the court that her husband, Alex, drugged her 2 days after she delivered a baby so that he could  have a long bout of sexual intercourse with her.

The 30-year-old woman said her husband put the drug in a bottle of soft drink which he offered her.

The Tribune reports:

A mother of three, Glory claimed that two days after she was delivered of a baby, her husband started pestering her for sex in the presence of her mother, who was on a visit. She told the court that she denied her husband sex because she was still recovering from the pains of childbirth and was also breast feeding.

She reiterated that after she took the soft drink, she couldn’t explain what happened afterwards until she became conscious three days later in the hospital. She added that she later knew that her husband drugged her when he confessed.

Following the incident, Glory moved out of their matrimonial home and since then, the couple have been living separately.

She asked the court to dissolve their marriage on the grounds that her husband was threatening her life and didn’t care for her and the children.

In addition, she told the court that she believed her husband charmed her into marrying him and her suspicion was confirmed when she started attending church. She asked the court to compel her husband to take care of their children by providing for their upkeep and education.

In response, Alex denied all the allegations made against him and said he took care of his family, but things went sour when he and his wife started having misunderstandings. He added that he used to give his wife N200 daily and therefore wondered why she claimed he was not taking care of his family.

He also said he was no longer interested in the relationship and asked the court to dissolve their marriage.

He promised to provide N10,000 for the upkeep and education of his children.

The case was adjourned till March 5.
