Tony Ehilebo, a Peoples Democratic Party Youth Circuit executive was on Friday, July 9, allegedly assaulted by security men attached to Klub Vaniti Cubana, Wuse 2, Abuja.

Reports say Barrister Ehilebo, who is the Buckingham University UK Nigeria Alumni Coordinator was allegedly attacked by the security men for trying to gain access into an exclusive part of the club with no authorisation.

Following the alleged assault where Ehilebo was said to have been beaten to the ground by a security personnel simply identified as Promise, the PDPYC coordinator is suing the club for N250 million on assault to person and brand damage charges.

While speaking exclusively to YNaija on the alleged assault, Ehilebo said, “For me it is instructive. If I didn’t know how to fight my battles that would have been all. It means anyone can be assaulted and they’ll go free.

“I think the bouncer was intoxicated. He was probably high on something because he suddenly turned to me and started punching… they had to take him off me,” said Tony.

Joined in the suit are the nightclub managers and the security guard.

Promise was reportedly shielded from arrest by the management of the outfit when the victim, Ehilebo called the attention of the police to the scene.

He continued saying: “That was not even the height of it. I reported to police and they sent me a patrol van. The management did not release him [the bouncer] saying he was at his duty post. After two hours of waiting they said he was nowhere to be found.”

YNaija spoke to Uyi, one of the managers of the nightclub and he denied the security personnel was shielded from police arrest.

He claimed Ehilebo came into the club slightly inebriated.

In his statement, Ehilebo actually assaulted the bouncer, Promise, and the bouncer only reacted by holding him down to the ground.

“Tony is like a brother. The bouncer knew Tony with me. He simply held him down. My boys went down and carried him out. We talked to him and he left.”

When asked if the bouncer was prevented from being arrested by the police, Uyi said “that’s not true,” but refused to elaborate on this.

Ehilebo is a British trained lawyer who also qualified at the Nigerian Bar. He is the Principal Partner at Ogbeide Associates, a leading law firm based in Abuja.
