The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has today released the results of the Anambra gubernatorial elections which took place on November 16, 2013 announcing APGA’s Willie Obiano as winner.

The election which was earlier declared inconclusive by the electoral body due to perceived irregularities in some local government areas of the state was, however, concluded on Saturday, November 30 after supplementary elections in Idemili LGA where APC candidate, Chris Ngige had accused INEC officials of colluding with certain elements to disenfranchise his supporters.

Other candidates in the election, Ifeanyi Ubah (Labour Party) and Tony Nwoye (PDP) have also made public their reservations about the conduct of the elections which was concluded yesterday.

According to the released final results APGA’s Willie Obiano scored 180, 178 votes from a total of 425, 254 valid votes to win the Anambra election.

Tony Nwoye of the PDP scored 97,700; Senator Chris Ngige (APC) scored 95,968 votes and Ifeayi Ubah (LP) scored 37, 495 votes.

The election turn out was low with only 26.3 per cent of registered voters actually coming out to fulfil their civic duties.
