UV radiation can damage your eyes which is why you should always wear sunglasses when you go out. Buy sunglasses that protect you 99 to 100 percent from UV-A and UV-B rays. Wearing hats can protect your eyes from UV rays too. Don’t think that you’re safe because it’s winter. Snow, water sand and concrete reflect UV rays. If you do not protect your eyes, they can be damaged by UV rays.

Working on projects without safety glasses can also put your eyes at risk. Always be sure to wear safety glasses when you could get splashed with something or hit with debris. Polycarbonate plastic glasses are the best when it comes to protecting your eyes. They have proven to be ten times more resistant than other materials. You should even wear them during sports. It is believed that 90 percent of sports-related eye injuries could be avoided if participants wore protective glasses.

People say that staring at computers can ruin your vision, which is mostly untrue. Looking at a computer can make your eyes feel dry and tired since we blink more than 50 percent less than we usually do when we are using our computers. To combat dryness and exhaustion people are now using what has become knows as the 20/20/20 rule.

Every 20 minutes you should look away from your computer. You should look at something that is 20 feet away for 20 seconds. You should also position your computer screen 25 inches away from you and keep the screen below eye level. Use a screen filter and move around light sources to reduce the glare from your screen and dryness and exhaustion should decrease.
