Bidemi Badmus, a bricklayer, has blamed the devil and marijuana for leading him to rape a 4-year-old.

He was arrested on Tuesday, December 9 in Bodija market, Ibadan, Oyo State by policemen from Bodija Railway Police Station following a report made by the victim’s father at the police station.

The incident occurred on Monday, December 8, when the four-year-old child was sent to buy biscuit by her mother, and Badmus lured her into his room where he defiled her.

The girl reportedly sustained bruises in her private part, with blood stains in her underwear. She was later taken to the State Hospital, Adeoyo, Ibadan where a doctor confirmed that there was an attempted penetration which resulted in bruises on both labia minora… and distorted hymen, though there was no deposit of sperm.

Badmus confessed that before the girl came to his room, he had gone to smoke marijuana at the hemp joint in Kara, Bodija market, and had just returned home. “I went to the joint at about 2p.m. and came back before 4p.m.”

The suspect claimed to not know his exact age but stopped education at JSS3 in 2006. He said: “I am from Ede in Osun State but I live alone in Ibadan at a place my brother rented for me before he travelled. I am a bricklayer. Before then, I was living with friends whom I met at a hemp joint at Kara at Bodija market, Ibadan. “It is true I raped a little girl.”

“The girl came to the house where I lived with two other children. I learnt her mother sent her to go and buy biscuit and she came to my room with the two girls. While others sat, I just pulled the girl’s pants aside, inserted my penis in her private part and removed it afterwards. I knew she was a little girl and she had no point of attraction but the devil pushed me into doing what I did,” Badmus added.

The Area Commander, Mrs Sybil Akinfenwa, confirmed the incident, saying that the suspect has been charged to court.
