A 42-year-old barber escaped death by whiskers as he was lynched by an angry mob at the Mcver Market in Warri, Delta State for allegedly sexually abusing a 9-year-old girl.

Armed with cudgels, clubs, stones and other handy dangerous items, the angry mob were ready to beat him to death after the victim had narrated how he sexually abused her, it took the plea of passers by to save the alleged child molester.

The barber who works at Danny Barbing Salon at the market and  identified himself as Jonathan Armon, swore to the mob that he never penetrated her but put spittle on his finger before he inserted them into the minor’s private parts.

He was said to have obviously been doing the same thing to the girl over time at the shop but lured her home close to the shop to have a full feel of her.

Even though the paedophile insisted that he did not “go into her”, the young girl’s sobbing mother undressed her, opened her up and showed people fresh semen that could have been deposited there by Jonathan.

The defiled girl’s mother said she did not ‘’want police trouble ‘’ as she had no money to pursue the rape case, adding that her husband would not want that too.

On hearing that the police would be called in, the mob dispersed one after the other, leaving the half nude Jonathan on the ground.

Asked why he did what he did, all Jonathan could say was “It was the devil sir, I swear it was the devil”.
