Veteran broadcaster/publisher, Dele Momodu says Nigerians didn’t take him serious when he contested the 2011 presidential elections, because he “lacked experience in stealing.”
Momodu implied that if he was a prolific and proven public funds thief, he may have had a chance of being taken seriously by Nigerians.
The publiser of Ovation Magazine made the utterances on Monday, 10 November, while speaking at the Diamond jubilee symposium of the founder of the Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare.
Momodu said, “One of the things I love about Pastor Tunde Bakare is that he did not restrict himself to activism. I was glad in 2011 when he was Gen. Muhammadu Buhari’s running mate. I, on the other hand, wanted to be President. I was serious about my ambition but Nigerians were not serious about it. Some said I lacked experience. Yes, I lack experience in stealing.”
Momodu, who ran for President on the platform of the National Conscience Party in the 2011 Presidential elections, had a dismal performance at the polls, garnering less than 30, 000 votes nationwide.
