I remain in PDP, count me out of any other party – Ibrahim Shekarau

Former Kano State governor, Ibrahim Shekarau has stated categorically that he has no intention to quit the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He said that any plan to float a new political party that will challenge both the PDP and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2019, he should be counted out of it.

Shekarau was reacting to media report that he and other PDP chieftains are planning to create a new political party, stating that the report was untrue.

“I want to state categorically that I am still a member of PDP and I have no intention whatsoever to leave the party, not to talk of forming a new party.”

Shekarau, who spoke through his aid, Ghali Sadiq, on Monday said he never participated in any meeting with any person or group of persons for the purpose of forming a new political party.

“Five months ago, PDP leadership had set up a 15-man committee with a view to finding lasting solutions to the problems facing the party. We have received over 5,000 memos and we have submitted our report to the party.

“As a member of the 15 member committee, how can I leave the party when we are waiting for the decision of the party? My position is that I am still a member of PDP and I have no intention whatsoever to leave the party or participate in the formation of a new political party,” he said.
