Why I visited Buhari – Jonathan

Former President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday held a closed-door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari inside the President’s office.

According to The Punch the meeting lasted for about 20 minutes.

After the meeting Jonathan spoke with State House correspondents. He however refused to answer a question on the ongoing anti-corruption war of the present administration which has led to the investigation and prosecution of many of his aides.

He said it would be inappropriate for him to speak on the matter as many of the cases were pending in court.

He also started that the meeting afforded him the opportunity of briefing Buhari of his recent international engagements and future ones.

Speaking on the renewed violence in the Niger Delta, the former president said it was appropriate for him and traditional rulers in the area to mediate in the matter.
