‘I’d rather go naked’: Former X Factor winner, Alexandra Burke goes completely NUDE for PETA (Viewer Discretion)

Alexandra Burke has peeled off in a brand new advertising campaign for animal rights organisation PETA.

A new poster campaign sees the former X Factor winner completely naked in a tasteful black and white shot emblazoned with the stark message ‘I’d rather go naked than wear fur.’

Despite gazing confidently into the camera lens in the single shot, which captures her side on – revealing two distinctive tattoos on her hip, Alexandra admits she was apprehensive about taking off her clothes.

‘I was nervous about posing nude as I’ve never done it before,’ she said. ‘It was uncomfortable initially, but the photographer made me feel relaxed and at ease.

‘Ultimately I love my body, so it was great to do something for a worthwhile cause.’

The singer says she was moved to take part after hearing about the methods employed to obtain fur for the fashion industry.

‘When I found out what happens to animals on fur farms my heart just sank,’ she said. ‘I have animals and the thought of someone hurting them so they can be turned into a coat makes me sick.

‘Anyone thinking about buying or wearing fur should watch PETA’s videos of animals suffering on fur farms – after seeing them, I can’t imagine anyone would want to be caught dead in fur.’

Other stars to feature in campaigns for the Virginia based organisation include Dionne Bromfield, who posed for a series of shots earlier this year.

‘Not only is fur cruel, it’s also totally gross,’ she said at the time. ‘I mean, who wants to wear the skin of an abused animal? Not me!

‘I’m here to tell people that you can have a killer look without having to hurt animals.’

Meanwhile Alexandra has released six track EP #NewRules as a thank you to the fans who have continued to support her since she rose to prominence on The X Factor in 2008.

The new extended play features appearances from JLS star Aston Merrygold and rapper Wretch 32, as well as a cover of Coldplay hit Fix You.
