The commercial motorcycle rider who was shot by a policeman yesterday in Ikorodu, Lagos, has been identified as Olalekan (surname withheld).
The commercial motorcycle operator (Okada), was said to have died instantly after being shot three times by the law enforcement officer when he tried to stop the seizure of his motorcycle.
The policeman identified by the Okada men as Haruna, is currently on the run as the Okada riders association in the area has called for the officer’s immediate arrest and prosecution.
Channels TV reports:
Allegations involving bribery and corruption have been leveled against the officer whose whereabouts are unknown at present.
Sources told Channels Television that Haruna demands sums from N5000 up to N15000 from Okada riders, who he insists are plying illegal routes.
