In Loving Memory Of My Daddy: A Christmas elegy by Aigbogun Toby
by Aigbogun Toby
This is a poem to make you appreciate your Dad.
I was very close to my father and I miss him very much. I wrote this on christmas eve with tears in my eyes because this is my first christmas without him.
In Loving Memory Of My Daddy
Aigbogun Christian Sunday
WHY is it God thought he needed you more than I?
And why is it wishes can’t come true?
I am just an aching heart who can only ask why.
And a Son who can’t let go of you.
I was given the chance to live my life
to the fullest.
You are the reason i became the person i am
You were not the perfect father
But i thank you very much
for the beautiful things that happened
in my life.
You were my hero who never fought in a war
You never felt the need to search the world for bounty.
It takes a lot of work with a family to feed
A lot of devotion to meet their need
But you did it for years till his family was grown
DAD, you have gone far away from this land,
I miss the precious touch of your loving hands.
I never knew last year was the last christmas with you.
I could look at my daddy, hug him, and say:
“I love you, Daddy!
All I have now is great memories, a heart
full of love and eyes full of tears, and
to remember his love throughout the years.
Now I will have to look up at the stars and
say, “I love you, Daddy! Merry Christmas! ”
“He lived, for Jesus died;
He died, for Jesus Lives.”
I LOVE YOU DAD….its a SAD CHRISTMAS FOR ME.
Your Beloved Son,
Don’t let one day go by without telling him
how dear he is!
Remember you may not have another year to tell him this!
Give ’em a hug, a great big kiss.
Because one day, he will be greatly missed.
