ouse of Representatives approved the bill in a voice vote despite countries like United States and the United Kingdom threatening to withdraw funds for AIDS and HIV outreach programs.

  1. the passage of the bill negates the principle that is enshrined in the constitution, most especially, section 17 (1) and (2)(a) to (d), which gurantess, the freedom of association and expression and also that the governmet will be human in all its dealings. the bill also further puts the fight against the HIV/AIDS scorge in jeopardy, as this will futher drive down the LGBTi community down under, since they have been categorized as one of the high risk group. Nigeria is a member of the international community and has ratified a lot of international human rights treaties, that guarantees the rights of sexual minorities. the hailing of the bill by hypocrates, is worring, because the swift passage of the bill because it has the inkling of fear and ignorance on the part of the lawmakers.
the bill in all it ramifications will further be another tool in the hands of our over zealous security agencies who are most times igorant of the laws that they are suppose to enforce, harrasment of not just only homosexuals but also those that they parceive to be one, by the standards, remember the Abuja prostitutes saga.
an injury to one is also an injury to all, to9day is outlawing same sex relationships, tomorrow might be prohibition of regulation of religion. thanks.

  2. nice one bt they shuld hav increased it to 20years.
