‘Maami’, the new feature film directed by ace cinematographer, Tunde Kelani for his Mainframe film and television production is currently playing in cinemas.

The much anticipated film stars Nollywood’s biggest crossover success, Funke Akindele, former AMBO winner, Wole Ojo and former beauty queen, Tamilore Kuboye. Music sensations Yinka Davies and Fatai Rolling Dollar also make special guest appearances.

‘Maami’ was adapted to the screen from Femi Osofisan’s novel of the same title and tells the story of a dirt poor single mother who will go to any length to raise her only son properly.

Despite his iconic status, ‘Maami’ marks Tunde Kelani’s first outing at the cinemas and it remains to be seen how well the film will perform. Expectations are high though as Funke Akindele single-handedly guided last year’s ‘The Return of Jenifa’ to record breaking grosses.

‘Maami’ is currently showing at Silverbird and Genesis Deluxe cinemas.
