A woman has shown the true meaning of forgiveness after she pardoned her husband who had tried to kill her.

43-year-old Samantha Charlton is standing by her husband, Michael after he tried to strangle her with a scarf while they were married.

He said to her while attempting to kill her: “I’m sorry, I need to get rid of you” but Samantha was able to push him off.

NY Daily reports:

He attacked his 43-year-old wife with a scarf, which was a present from his mom, while she was asleep, reported Metro.

“I had good reason to believe I was going to die,” said Samantha, from Sunderland, north eastern England.

She managed to push him off. “I think I would be dead if I hadn’t managed to push him away.”

The couple had been married for 10 years.

Mr Charlton had previously threatened to kill his ex-wife when they were married.
