The Independent National Electoral Commission has budgeted N10 billion for 80 rerun elections in the country.
Chairman of the electoral commission, Prof Mahmud Yakubu, revealed this on Wednesday, February 10.
While presenting INEC’s 2015/2016 budget before the House of Representatives Committee on Electoral Matters, Yakubu said the required N10 billion is for logistics and other electoral activities.
The committee’s Chairperson, Aishatu Dukku, responded by requesting for the schedule of various purchases required by INEC.
Furthermore, the committee promised to offer necessary assistance required for the conduct of the 2019 general election.
The INEC Chairman was also counseled on the importance of early preparation for the polls.
