by Seyi Lawal

So is it the latest fashion accessory or the new national flag? Well, maybe we should ask you, because Lagos woke up yesterday to the sight of optical smartphone readable codes better known as QR Codes (abbreviated from Quick Response Code) in different areas of the metropolis.

The imposing signs appeared everywhere, from shopping malls to school buildings, from billboards to T-shirts, everyone appeared to be rocking a QR Code! The codes are accompanied by a short, cryptic message: ‘Scan me for a new attitude’.

When you can the barcode, you are faced with yet another mysterious message in neon green. It reads: ‘DON’T BLEND IN: BE UNIQUE, FIND OUT HOW ON 05: 04: 12’.

Those who should know say this mysterious new message is coming from telecoms giant Etisalat. The company is planning to unveil another innovative communication package for old and new customers. There is no official statement from its spokespersons, but hey guys, you have them right there in front of your stores, and the buzz is unmistakable across Lagos.

We have our eyes on this!
