It’s a celebration! The Future Awards hosts celebrities, leaders and entrepreneurs at the Nominees Reception this Saturday

by Doyin Jaiyesimi

The Central Working Committee of The Future Awards has announced the Nominees Reception for Season 7 – a media & VIP event to celebrate the 168 leaders, innovators, change-makers, and entrepreneurs nominated for this edition. The reception holds on Saturday, August 4 at Terra Kulture, Victoria Island, Lagos.

“We are impressed with the people nominated in all categories this season.
Bringing them together to honor and show them to the world excites us,” said Ohimai Atafo who chairs the Central Working Committee. “Obviously only one winner will emerge in each category but they are all achievers.”

At the invitation-only event, nominees will be inducted into the elite The Future Alumni Network. It will also be an avenue to raise money for The Down Syndrome Foundation of Nigeria, a non-profit organisation which seeks to provide care for children with Down syndrome some of which have been abandoned by their parents and society on the basis of culture and myths that tend to stigmatize them. More information about Down Syndrome Foundation can be found on  www.thefuturenigeria.com/charity.

The event will be anchored by on-air personality, Uti Nwachukwu and there will be performances by Praiz, Niyola, and Skalez. There will also be a fashion show to launch The Future Awards tagged ‘Get Your Green On!’ with designers Sally Bawa, Violet Kutor, Vickky Elder, Moofa, and Phunk Afrique.

“The beauty of this award for many young Nigerians is to find that many achievers who have done such great work are so young, and that is why we have put them under the extra scrutiny of publishing their ages,” Atafo says. “We are confident that young Nigerians will draw inspiration from these true life stories of excellence and achievement.”

Media partners for the event include Silverbird TV, TV Continental, Hip on TV, Channels TV, Wazobia FM, Nigeria Info, BellaNaija, LindaIkejiBlog, Premium Times, 360Nobs, Jobberman, NET, TW, Complete Fashion, and FAB.

Official Media Partners are Africa Magic, Cool FM, and Y! (www.ynaija.com).
