Juju trial: Jury out in the case of couple accused of sex trafficiking

In the ongoing trial of the couple accused of trafficking a Nigerian woman into the UK  for sex trade., the jury has gone out for final deliberations.

The jury is considering verdicts in the case against 24-year-old Lizzy Idahosa, and 41-year-old Jackson Omoruyi, at Cardiff Crown Court.

Idahosa is facing a seven count charge of trafficking two women, forcing them to become prostitutes and transferring criminal property, while Omoruyi faces three charges of inciting women to become prostitutes and transferring criminal property.

Two of their victims, who are in their 20s, alleged that they were forced to work in brothels to repay Lizzy Idahosa £50,000 for travel and false documents.

The two Nigerian women had claimed that they were put through juju “witchcraft” ordeals to ensure they obeyed. They also testified that they were compelled to drink dirty water, eat a snake or snail, and hsvae their hair.
