Just In: Air Force resumes aerial attacks on hideouts of militants in Ogun

The Nigerian Air Force on Friday resumed the aerial attacks on hideouts of the vandals in Arepo area of Ogun state.

It was gathered that aerial attacks on the creeks resumed after gunshots were heard coming from inside the forest.

A top security source told Punch that the NAF deployed an Augusta helicopter for the operation.

According to the source, the helicopter started the offensive early in the afternoon and was still carrying out attack at 3pm on Friday.

A senior military officer gave few details about the attack.

“The operation is still ongoing. There is still serious military action going on in the place. Even as we are talking, the Air Force is engaging them from the sky,” the source said.

Shortly after the IGP left, ground forces had also moved there to respond to the gunfire from the vandals and the place was quiet for some time, according to the source.

“Then on Friday, the helicopter started the fire again. Some of the guys are trapped in the thick forest,” he added.
