Just so you know, Rotimi Amaechi will not be intimidated by threats

In the wake of his comments where he urged Nigerian soldiers to protest not having sufficient equipment and arms to fight terrorism, Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi has gotten series of warnings and reprimand from various quarters and security agencies.

Amaechi had said: “The challenge of the Nigerian military is not funding but corruption. Now they want to kill some 50 officers for their own failure to equip them properly to fight terrorism. The soldiers have the right to protest for the federal government’s failure to fully equip them.”

Some of the security agencies which cautioned Amaechi include the Army, Department of State Security, and the Minister of Police, who even threatened to arrest anyone who subsequently makes similar statements.

However, the man says he’s unperturbed by the threats, warnings and cautions. The governor says no amount of threats will intimidate him nor keep him quiet.

He wrote on his Twitter handle on Tuesday, December, 30, that rather than sit idle and watch the country destroyed, he’d keep talking.

Amaechi tweeted: “Threats, threats & more threats but I will not be intimidated or cowed to silence, to keep quiet while they pillage & destroy our country.”
