Kaduna blast: Who wants the ‘People’s General’, Buhari dead?

by Ifeoluwa Adebayo

Bombings in Nigeria are now a daily occurrence. This is a sad reality.

Today two bombs went off in Kaduna, the capital of Kaduna state, and only an hour’s drive from the federal capital, Abuja. The second bomb attack apparently targeted the convoy of General Muhammadu Buhari, a prominent leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and he narrowly escaped.

As the elder statesman that General Buhari is, eye witnesses say instead of running for safety he came out and started helping the victims of the blast.

But the question is – who wants the people’s general dead? Can this be a Boko Haram attack or can this be some sort of attempt by Nigeria’s intelligence and security apparatus to eliminate important opposition figures?

Nothing can be ruled out here.

It is sad that nobody is safe any more in Nigeria, not even past leaders. The people’s general as General Buhari is fondly called has a huge following in Nigeria as he is seen, in some quarters, as the only leader who has ruled the country and headed important government offices without being stained by corruption.

The implications of a possible civil unrest and disorder if he is assassinated cannot, and should not, be underestimated. It is important that an independent investigation is immediately started to unearth the perpetrators of this act.

  1. This is what I refer to as power of the pen abused as have been the case with our media culture. The questions you raised is targeted @ the government you should be taking and examined. ur general may set this up to look as if he also is a target and came out to help ppl just to drive his propaganda machine for which ur promoting “peoples General” which people.

  2. Look at it this way, this is scheme to connect the PDP to the blast based on Gen. Buhari’s statement against the president recently. Buhari has stains: Tunde Idiagbon died after a confrence he attented organised, hosted by and in the name of Gen. Buhari. Where he started having stomach trouble as a result of inhailing unknown substance rubbed on the microphone he used to speak at the conference. Question: Who killed the WAI Tunde Idiagbon???

  3. Ifeoluwa: I quote ur words can this be bokoharam or could it be Nigeria intelligence trying to assasinate an elder statesman because u r bias u forgot to mention that COULD THE BOMB BE STAGED BY APC TO GAIN SYMPATHY my brother nothing is impossible from our politicians let us stand for change as the leaders of tomorrow and don’t allow this old men use our head. Thank God nothing happened to him

  4. This write up is grossly bias and when looked critically, indicts the so called ‘people’s general’ than it vindicates him. Being a mean person that he is,he is capable of such scheming as setting off the bomb close to himself and doing the mischievious rescue operation, just ,of course, to gather illicit support. Our President may look clueless, but he is not a murderer. This nation is becoming more and more dangerous by the day.

  5. Only God knows who is who in Nigeria.but one day every secret thing will be expose.

  6. Chaii. who ever is behind this, please stop. now, don’t kill our general, this is the same man that was Alleged of being a sponsor of the deadly sect BH. it is now apparent that he is innocent and pure. Nigeria future without good leaders like buhari remains unpredictable. May God make him lead us.

  7. Are you sure its not a set up by APC. I SUSPECT APC not Boko Haram

  8. Stop the insinuations. Who were the bombs that have gone off several planted for?
Your short essay can incite unrest in itself.
WE should be careful what we utter and stop sensationalism as it could be detrimental to everyone.
