Kano thugs show Vice President, Namadi Sambo what it means to be kidnapped

by James Sambo

After yesterday’s experience in the hands of thugs, the Vice President will have an idea of what it means to be kidnapped or abducted.

On Monday, March 9, Namadi Sambo was held hostage by thugs in Kano, for about 20 minutes.

He wasn’t released by the thugs until a settlement was negotiated by the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 1, Tambari Yabo.

The incident occurred at the old campus of Bayero University Kano following an official engagement in the university by Sambo.

According to reports, several heavily armed thugs who disguised as loyal party faithfuls beat the security cover around the vice president, after which they began to chant: “Bamuayi, Bamuayi, Bamuayi” which translates as: “we are no longer with you”.

They also chanted: “mungaji da aiki banza,” meaning “we are tired of the job.”

Their action and chants prompted the AIG Tamara Yabo intervened by ordering his men to disarm the protesting thugs.

At this point, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, stalwarts in Sambo’s entourage asked the boys the reason for their embarrassment of the Vice President.

The thugs explained to Sambo that they risked their lives for PDP in the state, but up till then, they had not been paid anything in spite of promises.

Subsequently, Sambo instructed the party officials to attend to their needs to avoid the party from suffering further public embarrassment.
