Nora Mankel, a Briton who was kidnapped at Umunkiri village in Obingwa local government area of Abia State in April by unknown gunmen, has regained her freedom.

Mankel was said to have been kidnapped while on a visit from England to celebrate the Easter with family at her mother’s home town.

She was held for several weeks by her abductors and later released close to the village she was kidnapped to reunite with her family.

Reports say Mankel has since travelled back to England after going through the kidnapping ordeal.

The Abia State Commissioner of Police Usman Tilli Abubakar confirmed her release, saying she was dropped very close to her village by her abductors and that no ransom was paid.
On the day of the kidnap, Mankel was said to have gone to town in the company of her fiancé to shop for items she planned on taking back to the United Kingdom.
