by Stanley Azuakola

There are no permanent foes in politics, the saying goes. Here’s your proof: The Peoples Democratic Party, which along with the Action Congress of Nigeria, fiercely contested the just concluded gubernatorial poll in Ondo State with Olusegun Mimiko of the Labour Party, paid a congratulatory visit to the latter at the Ondo State Government House, Akure.

In fact, the visit which took place on Sunday, happened just a few hours after Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, declared him winner of the election.

The PDP team was led by a member of the board of trustees of the party, Bode Olajumoke, and also had other members of the party like Segun Adegoke, a former special adviser to the immediate past Governor Olusegun Agagu; Gbenga Ogunniya, a three term senator; Gbenga Elegbeleye and Tayo Fawahinmi, two former members of the House of Representatives; and Prof. Olu Agbi, a former ambassador to Austria.

Speaking at the government house, Dr. Olajumoke who said that the team had come to congratulate the governor, advised Mimiko to re-double his effort in the delivery of the dividends of democracy to the people of the state.

There is now peace in the world.
