YNAIJA ENDORSEMENT: We endorse APC’s Abdulfatah Ahmed for Kwara governor

Gov.-Abdulfatah-Ahmed-400x300

The tussle for Kwara state government house will see the incumbent governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed contest with Senator Simeon Ajibola who is the flagbearer of the PDP.

Ahmed, who is contesting under APC, comes from the densely inhabited Igbomina, a southern part of Kwara while Senator Simeon Ajibola also hails from southern part of Kwara but of the Ekiti stock.

The incumbent governor stands a better chance of winning the election using the full government gear to criuse his way to victory. He definitely has the capacity to deploy the required resources apart from having a formidable structure under which he is contesting.

This has to do with the tested and trusted Saraki’s dynasty currently under the leadership of former Governor Bukola Saraki. The structure is very strong and sturdy, capable effectively warding off any impending political offensive. It would definitely be day dreaming for anyone thinking that Saraki dynasty could be defeated in any electoral contest in the state in 2015.

On the other hand, the PDP flagbearer, Senator Simeon Ajibola is a third term senator who would have to depend largely on the Presidency’s support to make any appreciable impact in the election.

The seeming obstacle to Ahmed’s second term bid is the avowed determination of the Presidency to “recover” Kwara state.

On our part, we have watched Kwara make slow, but steady progress over the last twelve years. We think it could have been better, but things have improved nevertheless. On that note, we do not think that there is any need to derail this little progress even if some people think it is time to dismantle a dynasty. Thus, we endorse the candidacy of Abdulfatah Ahmed.
