On Saturday, June 6, Senator Ahmed Lawan, emerged the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, for the position of Senate Presidency.
A mock election was held by the leadership of the APC at the International Conference Centre, to select its leaders for the National Assembly.
Supporters of leading candidate, Senator Bukola Saraki, boycotted the election process, a decision which helped Lawan go on to win the election by polling 32 votes out of a possible 33 votes.
